Horse Meat Disco has run at Eagle London since New Year's Day 2004, and it is the reason a lot of people arrange a London weekend to end rather than begin on Sunday. The four residents play disco, boogie and early house on a sound system that justifies the choice, and the room stays a dancefloor rather than somewhere to stand and hold a drink.
The crowd is mostly gay men with a healthy mix of everyone else, older on average than most London club nights and there to dance. It has since spawned residencies in Berlin and New York and a long run of compilation albums, but the Vauxhall night is the original and still the one people fly in for.
Eagle London sits on Kennington Lane, a few minutes from Vauxhall station and around the corner from the Royal Vauxhall Tavern, which makes an evening across both entirely feasible.
