Heaven

Clubs in London, United Kingdom

About

Heaven occupies a run of railway arches under Charing Cross station, reached from Villiers Street. It opened in December 1979 in a space that had been a roller disco called Global Village, and it is generally credited with taking gay clubbing in London out of small back-room bars and into a large purpose-built venue.

The club does two jobs. On club nights it runs G-A-Y and Popcorn across the main room and the smaller bars, with commercial pop and dance. The rest of the time it works as a live music venue, and touring bands play the same main room.

Door rules are strict and worth knowing in advance. Photo ID is required from everyone and is scanned on entry, club nights are 18 and over, and bags or cases above carry-on size are refused.
