Village Soho

Bars in London, United Kingdom

About

Village opened on Wardour Street in 1991 and claims to have been the first bar of its kind in London, built as a gay bar rather than converted into one. The corner frontage with its neon sign is one of the more recognisable things on the street.

It runs over three levels and each has a different job. The cafe bar is the relaxed one. The Soho Bar upstairs has the dance floor and plays chart and commercial dance. The basement club goes deeper, into house and tech, and runs latest.

Drag and go-go dancers feature heavily at weekends. It is one of the busier rooms in Soho and gets full early on a Saturday.
