The Divine opened in Dalston in February 2024, days after The Glory closed on Kingsland Road, and it is run by the same three people. The building was previously Birthdays and before that a BrewDog.
It works on two levels. The ground floor is a cafe and show bar, the basement is the club. Cabaret and drag are the core of the programme, with club nights and live music around them, and the venue runs its own long-form drag competitions across a season rather than one-off shows.
The crowd came with it from The Glory: performance-literate, East London, there to watch as much as to drink.
