La Camionera is a lesbian bar on Well Street in Hackney, and it says so in its name and at the top of its own site. It works as a café and bar, walk-in only, and it is usually busiest later in the evening.
The programme is social rather than clubby: singles nights with low-pressure speed dating and matchmaking, some of them for over-30s, over-40s or people of colour, plus life drawing, a reading club, wine tastings and clothing upcycling workshops. Larger groups and private plans go through the bar by email.
The front half, with the bar, the tables and the toilet, is step-free. The back room and the garden are up three steps with a handrail.
