Circa opened on Frith Street in 2011 and sits at the quieter end of Soho's gay village, a couple of doors from Bar Italia. The frontage is glass with a few tables on the pavement, and in summer most of the bar ends up outside on the street.
Inside it is one long room with the bar down one side. Drag hosts work the floor most nights, and DJs take over later, playing pop and dance rather than anything harder. The bar describes itself as a place with as much attitude as it has good nights, which is roughly right.
It is smaller and less of a scrum than the Old Compton Street venues, and it works better as somewhere to start an evening than to end one.
