The Admiral Duncan is a narrow blue-fronted pub on Old Compton Street. There has been a pub on the site since at least 1832, and it is one of the oldest gay pubs in Soho.
In April 1999 a nail bomb was detonated in the bar, killing three people and injuring dozens. A memorial to them is inside the pub, and the anniversary is still marked on the street.
What it does now is cabaret. The room is narrow, the stage is a corner of it, and nobody is far enough away to be at the back. Drag shows alternate with karaoke, and the crowd is mixed in age with a lot of regulars in it.
