Pride in Hull is one of the larger Prides in the north of England, and the organising charity says it reaches more than 60,000 people. A parade of community groups and businesses crosses the city centre, and the celebration centres on Queen's Gardens, the park where the first Pride in the city took place in 2002 with a few hundred people and a loud sound system.
Hull was the first city to host UK Pride, in 2017, the year it was also UK City of Culture. The organisers tie the 2027 edition to LGBT60, the sixtieth anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality in England and Wales.
The event is run by a registered charity with a volunteer committee. Groups and businesses register in advance to walk in the parade, and traders can book a stall.
