The Waterloo is said to be the oldest gay pub in Scotland, and it looks the part. The frontage on Argyle Street is muted red and gold with stained glass above the windows, diagonally across from Central Station.
Inside it is a traditional pub rather than a bar with a concept. The draw is the crowd, which skews older than the Merchant City venues and spans a range of ages that few gay bars manage. Karaoke and live music are the regular fixtures.
It sits a few minutes west of the Merchant City cluster, so it tends to be a first stop or a last one rather than part of the circuit.
