The Underground is a basement bar on John Street, below the pavement in the middle of the Merchant City. It traded as Revolver before the change of name.
The room is plain and the free jukebox is the point, which is the usual reason people pick it over the bars at street level on the same block. There is a pool table, and the week runs on karaoke, DJs and drag queen bingo.
It calls itself a refreshing antidote to the current gay scene. In practice that means no frills, cheap drinks, and a crowd of regulars who wanted to choose the music themselves.
