The Riding Room

The Riding Room is the corner unit where Virginia Street meets Wilson Street, and it calls itself the Joint on the Corner. It is a cocktail bar built around a stage.

The seating gives away the intent: carriage style booths and tables set directly in front of the stage, so the room watches rather than mingles. The programme is cabaret in the wide sense, taking in burlesque, musical theatre, comedy, magic, contortion and vocalists, from vintage standards through to current pop.

It runs as part of the same operation as the Polo Lounge next door, so an evening can start with a show here and end on the dancefloor.
