The Greenhouse is a sauna and health club for gay and bisexual men, in a detached four-storey building standing in its own grounds on Willenhall Road. It calls itself the longest established gay and bisexual health centre in the country, and describes the Darlaston house as its flagship club. The same operator runs two further clubs, in Newport and Luton.
The building is built around an indoor pool with a waterfall and a spa cave, which the club says is the only pool of its kind in a Midlands club. There is a large dry sauna, steam rooms, private and communal rest rooms, and fantasy and fetish rooms. The locker room takes 250 men and towels are provided. Upstairs there is a conservatory lounge and a roof sundeck with loungers, and the club has a restaurant and a soft drinks bar that serves food late. Double rooms can be hired on site, and there are smoking areas and free WiFi in the locker room.
The club draws a wide age range rather than one crowd, and it describes the atmosphere as open and friendly. Themed nights run through the month: bears days, naked and underwear days, jocks nights, and cross dressing and bi evenings. Sexual health clinics are held on the premises.
It sits about five minutes from Junction 10 of the M6 and has a large secure car park of its own, so it is easier to reach by car than most saunas in the region.
