Eclipse is a cellar bar at 39 Charles Street, down the stairs into the room that was the Eagle until it was rebranded at the end of 2024. It is LGBTQ+ owned and run.
Cabaret and drag run through the week with DJs after, and the bar programmes things the more polished venues in the city do not. Hush Hush, its fetish and kink night, has been going a year. The bar describes itself as one of the cheapest LGBT+ venues in Cardiff city centre.
It is small, below street level and stays open late, which is roughly the point of it. Charles Street is a short walk from Churchill Way, so it tends to be the second or third stop rather than the first.
