The Phoenix is an independent, queer owned pub in Champion Square, at the Old Market end of the city centre. There has been a pub on the site since 1850 and the current owners took it on in 2010.
Inside is an eclectic mix of pressed metal panelling, banquettes and a mix of quiet corners and open tables. There is a large beer garden, dogs are welcome throughout, and the kitchen does a roast with locally sourced produce. New Bristol Brewery lager and 6 O'Clock Gin are the house pours, alongside a long list of local and imported draught and bottles.
Don't Tell Your Mother, an indie and pop LGBT+ club night, runs here once a month, and the pub puts on other events through the year. It reads as a neighbourhood pub first and a scene venue second.
