Prowler is the best known gay retailer in Britain and this is its Brighton branch, on St James's Street in the middle of the Kemptown scene. It is one of eight Prowler shops in the country and has been on this street long enough to be a landmark on it.
The stock runs from clothing and underwear through to adult toys, fetish gear, harnesses and restraints, douches, magazines and safer-sex supplies. Staff are used to answering questions without making a performance of it, which is the main reason people prefer a shop like this to ordering online.
It sits a few doors from Nautilus Lounge and Affinity, so it fits easily into a walk along the street rather than being a separate errand.
