The Amsterdam is a gay-owned hotel on Marine Parade, directly across the road from the Palace Pier and in the middle of the Kemptown bars. For anyone coming to Brighton for the scene, the location does most of the work: almost everything in this guide is within a ten-minute walk.
Rooms run from singles and a basement double up to sea-view doubles, rooms with balconies and a penthouse suite. Many face the water. Free WiFi throughout, and massage can be booked at the hotel.
The ground floor is now occupied by The Birdcage, a cabaret bar with its own terrace, so there is a queer venue downstairs without leaving the building.
