The Marine Tavern is one of the smallest pubs in Brighton and has stood on Broad Street since the late nineteenth century. Its interior is old enough to be recognised as historic in its own right, and the pub has kept it rather than opening it out.
The size is the point. On a busy Saturday you squeeze in, and by the second drink you are talking to whoever you squeezed in next to. It is traditional in the proper sense, with themed nights through the week, a quiz, and a Sunday roast that regulars turn up for.
The pub is dog friendly and does a lot of local charity work. It is one of the founding members of the Village Pride Community, a group of Kemptown LGBTQ+ venues that run things together.
