The Bulldog has been on St James's Street since 1979 and calls itself Brighton's longest running LGBTQ venue. It is not a polished room and does not try to be. Dark, small and a bit rough at the edges, with a crowd that skews male and older than the bars nearer the seafront.
What it does, it does properly. Midnight cabaret on Fridays, karaoke, resident DJs, and a regular fetish night that fills the place with leather and rubber. The bar can be hired for private parties.
If you want somewhere unpretentious to start or finish a night on St James's Street, this is the one people keep coming back to.
