Saunabar is the gay sauna for Bournemouth and the wider south west coast, and it sits a minute from The Triangle rather than out on an industrial estate, which is the usual arrangement in a British seaside town.
The facilities are a sauna and a steam room, a jacuzzi, open showers, a lounge with sofas and free WiFi, and private rest areas. There is a fully licensed bar doing food and drinks, and qualified masseurs work on site. A towel is the normal dress and swimwear is accepted for anyone who would rather.
The programme runs much wider than the day service. Alongside the men's sauna there is a monthly leather and fetish gathering, a monthly club night for trans people, cross-dressers and their allies, a body-positive social, a towel-free day, and a long-running mixed swingers night that is not gay male at all. The room changes character completely between them, so which night it is matters more here than at most saunas.
