DYMK stands for Does Your Mother Know, and it is the club most people in Bournemouth mean when they talk about a gay night out. It sits at the top of Poole Hill, on the western edge of the Triangle, the small wedge of streets that holds nearly all of the town's LGBTQ+ venues.
This is a late club rather than a bar to drop into for one drink. The programme runs to drag and cabaret, karaoke, quizzes and guest performers, with ticketed nights alongside the free ones. It calls itself Bournemouth's landmark LGBTQ+ nightclub, and the crowd is broad in age, with a good number of regulars who have been coming for years.
Entry is off the street, and at weekends the queue along Poole Hill is part of the experience. Everything else on the scene is a few minutes' walk away.
