Flirt has been on The Triangle since 2011 and is the daytime half of Bournemouth's gay scene. It is a cafe first, doing breakfast, cake and coffee, and becomes a bar later in the week, which makes it the one venue on the street you can use at any hour.
It is family run, and the staff and the customers are as mixed as the menu: gay and straight, young and old, locals, and people working from the tables on the free WiFi. The programme is quiet by the standards of the street. Arts and crafts nights, a book club, a quiz, live music and poetry.
The room is greenery and bookcases rather than neon, and the vegan side of the menu goes well beyond a token dish. It is the obvious place to arrange to meet someone before the rest of the Triangle wakes up.
