Spartan is the longest-running gay sauna in Birmingham, open since the early 1980s. It is a converted terraced house in Erdington, a few miles north of the centre and away from the Gay Village, looking out over Brookvale Park.
Inside there is a dry sauna and a bio sauna, a large steam room, private cabins, a video room, two TV lounges, a small gym, a sunbed and a cafe. It is a small place and the crowd is relaxed rather than cruisy in the way a city-centre venue is.
Parking is easy on George Road and the streets around it, which is not true of anywhere in the village.
