The Village Inn is one of the older LGBTQ+ bars in Birmingham and one of the busiest. It sits on the Lower Essex Street corner of the Nightingale building, having moved there from its long-standing Hurst Street address.
Cabaret is the main draw. The main room runs live drag and pop anthems, and downstairs the Underground room is given over to bashment, R&B and garage with resident DJs at the weekend. There is a garden, and booths can be reserved. Entry is free.
The crowd is mixed and loud, and the bar leans party rather than quiet drink.
