The Fountain Inn is a traditional pub at the edge of Birmingham's Gay Village, a few streets from the Hurst Street strip, with letting rooms above it. It was a men-only bar for most of its life and now takes everyone, but the crowd is still mostly gay men and skews older, bears and daddies rather than a young weekend crowd.
There is a front bar and a pool room. Leather and fetish groups hold their socials here, which sets the tone as much as anything on the calendar does. The pub's own history page is frank about what the place used to be: at a time when it was dangerous to be open about it, part of the premises was given over to men meeting each other away from police attention.
The rooms upstairs are en-suite with a wetroom and wifi, and guests get their own access at any hour. Over-18s only, two people to a room, and no smoking in them.
