About

Carr House Farm is a bed and breakfast in a sixteenth-century farmhouse near Ampleforth, in the Howardian Hills north of York, within sight of Byland Abbey. The hosts live on the farm, the fields around it are grazed by livestock, and they breed working gundogs.

The three guest rooms are on the ground floor, each with its own front door, separate from the main house and with an en suite bathroom. The farmhouse itself has oak-panelled walls, flagstone floors, heavy beamed ceilings and old oak furniture, and breakfast is cooked from local produce.

It is a place for walking and quiet: guests can go out with the farm's Labradors and spaniels, the birdlife is a draw of its own, and the abbeys of the area and the North York Moors are close by.
