Portum is a gay club on Verkhnii Val in Podil, with two halls, a bar and a large dark room. The upper and lower halls run their own programmes, so two different nights can be going on in the same building.
Drag is what the club is built around. A resident cast works themed nights, from a wild-west evening to a Chicago-in-the-twenties one, and the club runs its own Miss Diva pageant and a ball. Sundays are given over to disco.
There is a courtyard that opens in summer, and it doubles as an exhibition space for one-day shows by Kyiv artists. House rules and a dress code are published, and tables can be booked by phone.
The crowd is mostly gay men, with a wider queer turnout on show nights. Entry is 18 and over. It is the last gay club standing in Kyiv, and it is busy.
