About

Checkpoint Zürich is the health centre for queer people in the city and one of the largest centres in Switzerland for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. It moved to Limmatstrasse 25 in Kreis 5 in 2023, three minutes from its old address on Konradstrasse, and marked twenty years in 2026.

The work covers testing for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhoea, medical treatment including PrEP, PEP, vaccination and HIV therapy, and a psychological side: counselling, psychotherapy, chemsex support, coming-out support, and care for trans and non-binary people. There is a specialist service for trans people and a mobile prevention team that works outside the building.

Appointments can be booked online and there are walk-in slots. The centre works in German and English, and it is part of a network with centres in Basel, Bern, Lucerne, Vaud and Geneva.

For a visitor this is the practical answer to a problem that is otherwise hard to solve in a foreign city: where to get tested, and where to go if something has gone wrong.
