Tip Top is a Schlager bar on Seilergraben, below the university at the edge of the Niederdorf. Schlager is the whole point here: German-language pop, played straight, and the reason most of the regulars are in the room.
Drag is the other draw. The shows happen in the bar itself rather than on a stage, which puts the performer among the guests instead of in front of them.
The room is small and the crowd is largely gay men. It is a bar for talking rather than dancing, and one of the few places in Zurich where the music policy has not moved with the times, on purpose.
