The Rainbow Inn is the only guesthouse in Lausanne that takes men only. It sits on Avenue de Tivoli, the street that carries the city's gay addresses, about ten minutes on foot from the main station.
There are five rooms, named by colour rather than numbered. Bathrooms, showers and toilets are shared, and so are a kitchen with fridge, microwave and coffee machine and a living room. WiFi is included. The whole house is non-smoking, guests have to be 18 or over, and anyone you bring in from outside has to be cleared with the management first.
What makes it more than a cheap room is next door. A stay includes entry to Pink Beach, the largest gay sauna in Switzerland, for the whole time you are booked in, and you check in at the sauna's reception rather than at the guesthouse. The house calls itself friendlier than a hotel.
