Le Saxo is one small room in a lane below Place Saint-Francois. It calls itself the oldest gay, queer and rainbow bar in Lausanne and counts 34 years of it. Nothing about the fittings has been modernised, and that is the appeal.
The house event is the Karaogay. Lyrics run on old cathode-ray televisions, and the stage is shared between drag queens who have been performing for decades and ones doing it for the first time. Most of the region's queens started here. The song list fills up, so put your request in early.
The bar is small enough that a first-time visitor gets talked to. Food is simple bar cooking. The room can also be hired for birthdays and group nights.
