Nathan Café is a gay bar in the Eaux-Vives, a short walk from the lake. It is larger inside than the front suggests: several lounge areas, two bookcases worth of reading and a small terrace. Work by local artists and students goes up on the walls and is changed regularly.
The kitchen stays simple, with panini, charcuterie and cheese plates, tapenade toasts and nachos. Themed evenings run through the year, and on some nights the room is cleared into a dancefloor.
It opened in 2015 and nearly did not survive 2026. Six months of roadworks outside cut its trade badly enough that the landlord broke the lease, and the bar closed in April after eleven years. A community fundraiser brought in more than 50,000 francs, an agreement was reached, and it reopened the following month.
