House of Q is a queer cultural house in Värtahamnen, in the old head office of the retail chain Indiska. It runs across three floors and a roof terrace, about 3 400 square metres in total, with eight bars, a restaurant, exhibition rooms and club stages.
It is the first queer-run cultural house in Stockholm since Kolingsborg closed in 2015, and the size is the point: the programme goes from a daytime lunch restaurant and quiet hangout to exhibitions, artist talks, concerts and club nights, with queer history as a stated part of the mission. There is a membership scheme.
The roof terrace is the summer draw. The house is out in the harbour rather than in town, roughly 650 metres from Gärdet on the red metro line.
