Nestled in the historic winding streets of Gamla Stan, Secret Garden has established itself as one of Stockholm’s most beloved LGBTQ+ venues since its opening in 2014. Located at Kornhamnstorg 59, this award-winning bar and restaurant is famous for its vibrant atmosphere and its "all are welcome" philosophy. Having been named "Gay Place of the Year" multiple times by QX Magazine, it serves as a central meeting point for locals and international visitors alike.
The venue is masterfully divided into different zones to suit every mood. The interior is a riot of colour and kitsch, featuring cosy nooks and a lively bar area where the music leans heavily towards upbeat pop, Eurovision hits, and dance floor classics. One of its most unique features is the "inner garden"—a charming courtyard that provides a tranquil escape from the bustling city, perfect for enjoying a meal or a cocktail in a relaxed, open-air setting.
Secret Garden is particularly popular for its extensive food menu and creative drink selection, making it just as suitable for a casual afternoon dinner as it is for a high-energy night out. As the evening progresses, the energy levels rise, and the dance floor becomes the heart of the action. With its friendly staff and diverse, happy crowd, Secret Garden remains a definitive must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the warm and inclusive spirit of Stockholm’s queer scene.

Had the best time here tonight. What an absolute vibe. Queer folk of all stripes, so many of us just having a ball with our nearest and dearest. Where else can you get Rasputin, Alors on danse, Gangnham Style, among all songs that sing to millenial hearts. Lots of love from these two Australians, we'll be sure to come back and let everyone know about the wholesome time to be had at The Secret Garden🌈
We stopped by on a Friday afternoon after exploring Gamla Stan. The place was mostly empty, but we enjoyed burgers and several drinks in the front seating area.
I'm sure the vibe at night is much different, during the day felt more like a calm gay café vs. a busy gay bar (which is fine with me).
Disappointed Experience Despite Great Atmosphere
I came in ready to support what seemed like a fun, welcoming establishment—but unfortunately, I left disappointed. The bartender was not particularly friendly and seemed more focused on chatting with friends at a nearby table than attending to guests. Our dirty dishes were never cleared, so we ended up enjoying our drinks surrounded by clutter, which made the experience feel uninviting and a bit uncomfortable.
It’s really unfortunate, because the food was very good, the bar itself is charming, and the music created a nice vibe. With better service, this place could easily be a favorite.
I will say the bartender does treat his locals very well, not good to be a stranger in this place.
Don't go to this place! When we had two drinks here (10 euros), we ended up paying 50 euros! We saw this on our bank account afterward. We went back to get our overpayment refunded, but it didn't work, and the bartender said they'd handle it online. I contacted them about ten times, but they kept making excuses. So, the money hasn't been refunded; they're scammers!
Admittedly I had a very fun time for a bit, until I was suddenly pulled to the side by security and asked “how I was doing?” I was a bit confused as to why I was being interrogated in this way but I didn’t want to be a problem so I was very cooperative. In the end I was pushed out, very rudely. Honestly it was a fun place to be until I was suddenly singled out for, still, unknown reasons. I don’t understand why I was asked to leave, but I definitely will not be back after being targeted on 12 Oct 2025. The first time in my life I have ever been targeted by a club, and I wish I could say it was worth it (aka I was doing something worth
the targeting). Alas, I was just on the floor with friends, and my assumption is they wanted to make space. Looking back, and after speaking with friends, it seems I was targeted for being North American. The female security guard made it very clear that she did not want me there, despite my respectful response and demeanor. I was shocked. Best of luck to them. I will NOT be recommending this space to any of my friends visiting Stockholm.
