District35 is the largest gay sauna in Slovenia and the one most visitors end up at. It sits in the Stegne industrial estate in the north west of Ljubljana, away from the centre but simple to reach: bus 8 to the Tehnounion stop, the Ljubljana-Stegne train halt, or your own car, with parking in front of the door. Men only.
Three floors and over 300 square metres. The bar is on the ground floor. Above it is the wet area with a Finnish sauna, a steam room and an infrared cabin, alongside private cabins, a sling and dark rooms. The top floor opens onto a sun terrace with the Alps in the distance. There is a massage studio that takes bookings in advance, and yoga and wellness sessions.
What separates it from a plain sauna is the programme: bear parties, fetish nights, drag shows, a swinger evening, an all gender night that opens the house beyond men only, and cheaper entry for under 26s. The house rules say that homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, sexism, nationalism and racism are not tolerated.
