CUIB is a vegetarian bistro, a fair trade shop and an event room in one, on Strada Gavriil Musicescu. The name is Romanian for nest, and it also stands for Centrul Urban de Inițiative Bune, the urban centre for good initiatives, which is the social enterprise behind it.
The food is ovo-lacto vegetarian and built on local ingredients, and the shop sells fair trade and ecological goods. The rest of the space goes to talks, film screenings, workshops and shared meals, and that is where its queer side shows: it has hosted a queer brunch and it is a standing partner of Iași Pride.
It opened in 2013 as the first space of its kind in Romania and is run by an association that campaigns on social and environmental causes. It is not a queer venue. It is one of the few places in Iași that has put its name to the city's queer events year after year.
