Zoom is the largest gay club in Porto, set in a converted warehouse on Rua de Passos Manuel in the Baixa. The main room is built around a big dance floor with disco balls above it, and the queue down the street is part of the weekend picture.
The music starts on pop and funk and works towards house and techno as the night goes on. Drag performers and go-go dancers take the stage between sets, and themed parties with guest DJs are a regular fixture. The crowd is largely gay men, joined late by whoever has just left the bars nearby.
The club is closed for refurbishment and has said it will be back.
