Labirintho occupies several rooms of an old house on Rua de Nossa Senhora de Fátima, out towards Boavista and well away from the Baixa crowds. It has been open for more than thirty years and has been a meeting point for queer Porto through most of them.
The rooms are hung with art and the place doubles as an exhibition space, so what is on the walls changes. Cocktails are the strength. There is outdoor seating, and the layout means you can usually find a quiet corner even when the front rooms are full.
It is an alternative, arty bar with a mixed crowd rather than a gay bar as such, and it is a good deal calmer than anything in the centre.
