Café Lusitano opened in 2005 and was one of the first openly LGBT venues in Porto. It sits in the Baixa on Rua de José Falcão, behind a plain door in an old townhouse a few streets from Aliados.
The interior is retro and deliberately theatrical: old furniture, heavy fabric, low light. Cocktails are the strength and there is a kitchen, so dinner is an option before the room changes character. Later on there are drag shows, DJ sets, pole dance and the occasional concert or book launch.
The crowd is mixed and mostly local, and there is a terrace when the main room gets full.
