About

My Rainbow Rooms calls itself Lisbon's exclusively male gay guest house. It is an apartment of about 200 square metres on a tree-lined street in Saldanha, renovated throughout in 2023, two minutes' walk from the Metro station on the Yellow and Red lines.

Rooms are doubles with one double bed and a shared bathroom, and there is an all-male dormitory with bunks that is kept for guests under 35. Beds are made up in Egyptian cotton, and the house puts out robes, slippers, tea and coffee, flat-screen televisions with an on-demand library, and free wifi. The room in its own photograph has a deep blue upholstered headboard, striped curtains and an azulejo-pattern hanging on the wall.

This is a residential quarter rather than a nightlife one, which is the point of it: Eduardo VII Park is about 2 km away and the bars of Bairro Alto and Principe Real are ten to fifteen minutes by car. The house does not publish its street number on its own pages, so ring the bell number given when you book.
