Side Bar sits on the corner of Rua da Barroca that Lisbon simply calls the gay corner, in the middle of Bairro Alto. Its own line for itself is an invitation to meet at the corner of the world, which is about the size of it. It is a small cocktail bar, and on a busy night the crowd is mostly outside it rather than in it, which is how Bairro Alto works.

The music is pop, the drinks are cheap for the area, and the bar is the fixed point of a street that people move along rather than settle in. Purex and Clube da Esquina are a few doors away, so an evening here rarely stays in one place.
