Prestige is the gay club of Faro, on Largo da Madalena a few minutes from the bus terminal and the old town. The room is small: one central dance floor, a bar down the side and a raised area at the back.

Music moves between pop, house and techno depending on who is playing, and drag performances are a fixed part of the programme. The club books DJs from Lisbon and from abroad alongside residents. It is a weekend venue.

The crowd mixes Algarve locals with visitors, and in summer the tourist share goes up. Faro has no second club of this kind, so this is where the city's scene collects. Reviewers keep coming back to the staff, which tells you something about how the place is run.
