Papuga is a gay club on Dietla in Kazimierz, in an old tenement with a courtyard garden behind it. The club calls itself the rainbow heart of Kraków. Inside there are two bars, two dance floors, a chillout room and a smoking room, with the garden outside for when the floors get warm.
The programme is wide rather than deep in one genre: drag shows, karaoke, bingo, live acts, and themed party nights with names like Queer Pop and Pink Summer. The music across the two floors moves between styles over the course of a night.
The house rules are published and enforced. Entry is 18 and over with ID, there is a door selector who can refuse entry without giving a reason, security may search bags, and nobody gets in drunk or high. Outside food and drink stay outside. The cloakroom is paid and the club takes no responsibility for what you leave lying around. Smoking is confined to the designated room.
The club is LGBTQ+ first but says anyone who treats the place with respect is welcome. It became Kraków's main gay dance club after Cocon on Gazowa closed in 2019.
