Café Kalff

Cafe Kalff has been on the Oudegracht since 2011, a few doors along from Bodytalk, and between them the two make up Utrecht's gay bar scene. The motto is printed on the awning over the door: go where you're celebrated, not where you're tolerated.

Most of the time it works as a neighbourhood cafe. Coffee, beer, wine and cocktails, cheese and charcuterie boards, fried snacks from the Utrecht brewery vandeStreek, and a terrace on the canal that fills the moment the sun is out. Later in the week it turns into a party, with drag bingo and themed nights.

The crowd is queer and mixed, students and regulars. The bar runs its own programme during Utrecht Pride and sits directly on the Canal Pride route.
