FERRY is the largest LGBTQ+ venue in Rotterdam and the closest thing the city has to a gay club. It stands on the Westblaak with two floors, a separate room, a basement and a big street terrace, plus a wide stage that anyone can end up on.

The programme runs from a weekly drag show and a karaoke night through to weekend club nights with guest DJs. Pop, dance and chart music upstairs, harder electronic sound in the basement. Photography is not allowed down there.

The door is 18+ with ID checks, and the house rules are blunt about it: no discrimination, no aggression, consent matters, stag parties are turned away. Dogs are welcome inside and on the terrace earlier in the evening. FERRY also runs a shop selling art, books and gifts, and organises Backsteeg, a Pride street party that spills into the Boomgaardhof next door.

Its smaller sister bar, Elio, is a few minutes away on Van Oldenbarneveltstraat.
