Strano is a gay bar on Van Oldenbarneveltstraat, one side of the small block of streets that makes up gay Rotterdam. It has been open for more than twenty years.
The room is deep red, with leather seating along the walls and a dance floor with video screens at the back. Music moves between chart pop and house depending on the night, and the bar runs themed parties and guest DJ nights.
The crowd is younger than at the older cafés a few streets away, and Strano is one of the places that keeps going long after the rest of the city has stopped.
