Dorothy's is a drag bar on Pottebakkersrijge, in the rooms that carried the Groningen gay scene for decades under an earlier name. New owners took the place over in 2022 and rebuilt it around drag. Shows bring queens from around Europe several times a month, and between them there is drag bingo, a drag quiz and an open stage for anyone who wants to get up and try.
The bar calls itself the cocktail and entertainment bar of the north. The cocktail list took three years to build and runs from standards to house drinks named after The Wizard of Oz. There are speciality beers on tap and bottled beers and ciders from a range of countries.
The room is small and the crowd mixes regulars, students and people passing through. It describes itself as a proud LGBTQIA+ bar where allies get the same welcome. Groups of up to about twenty can reserve.
