Café Queers is a gay café on the Jansplein in the centre of Arnhem. It opened in March 2025 in the premises of Café Colours, the gay bar that had run on this square for more than thirty years, and it describes itself as a place where everyone can be themselves, whatever box they do or do not fit in.
The bar room has patterned wallpaper hung with gilt-framed portraits of drag queens and pop stars, copper pendant lamps over a long bar, and it fills up properly on a busy night. There is also a glass conservatory for bad weather and a terrace on the square in summer. Heineken and a beer called Mannenliefde are on tap, next to classic cocktails and Dutch bar snacks like bitterballen.
The programme leans towards Dutch sing-alongs, Eurovision, gay classics and eighties music. There are bingo nights hosted by drag queens, pub quizzes, sing-along evenings, Eurovision on several screens, football on the big screen during tournaments and big parties around King's Day. The crowd is mixed in age and not only male.
ID can be checked at the door, and the house rules ask for no unwanted touching, no aggression and no racism.
