Club RAUM opened in April 2024 in the Westpoort industrial area, out past Sloterdijk, and is queer-run with music at the centre of what it does. It puts its own position plainly: queerness as something in perpetual movement that resists rigid definition, and a club that will never be finished.
It works as a cultural space as much as a nightclub, with a published code of conduct and house rules alongside the programme. The location is a long way from the canal belt, which is the trade-off industrial venues make for the space and the licence.
It is one of two new queer clubs to open in Amsterdam in 2024, along with TILLATEC.
