Prik has been on the Spuistraat since July 2006. The name is Dutch for fizz, which is a joke about the house drink: prosecco on tap, white or pink. The rest of the list runs to a long set of cocktails with names that carry the same tone.
It is a cocktail bar rather than a night bar, friendly and unfussy, with a crowd that mixes ages and mixes locals, expats and visitors. Snacks come with the drinks. Karaoke nights run through the programme.
The terrace is the thing people remember, and it has been voted the best LGBTQ terrace in Amsterdam. The Spuistraat location puts it near the Dam, in the cluster with the Cuckoo's Nest, Bears and Sauna Nieuwezijds rather than on the Reguliersdwarsstraat.
