Bears Amsterdam calls itself the city's first bear den, and the claim holds up: Amsterdam has run big bear events for years without ever having a permanent bar for them. It opened in 2025 in the Sint Jacobsstraat premises that were The Web until that bar closed in May of the same year.
The bar keeps a fetish identity while being explicit about who is welcome, which is bears and friends: women, non-binary people and trans men are named on the house page rather than left to infer it. There is a playroom, included with a drink, and free condoms by the coat check. Coats and lockers are handled at the door.
Sex work and illegal drugs are not allowed. The Sint Jacobsstraat is a short street off the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, in the cluster with the Cuckoo's Nest, Prik and Sauna Nieuwezijds.
